It was a positive weekend for the
One Cal JJR Triumph team this weekend at round ten of the Dickies British
Supersport Championship at Donington Park. Racing at his local round of the
series Joe gained a ninth and 11th place respectively.
Joe has been consistently
improving throughout the season and has now begun to find a good set-up that
works well for him at each circuit. Joe was riding well throughout the weekend
and feeling confident as he headed into qualifying, he ended up in
11th for the opening race.
He got a good start and moved up
a place on lap one, he continued to make progress with his times. He had to
avoid the crash that Ben Currie had, where he lost positions but he was able to
fight back to ninth at the end of the race. For race two he started from
12th position and despite working as hard as possible, Joe was
suffering from an electrical problem that would not allow him to push harder for
a result and he had to settle for 11th.
Joe Collier - "We certainly made loads of
progress this weekend at Donington and I was convinced we'd have two really good
results in the bag by the end of the weekend.
I felt really happy and
comfortable on the bike during the sessions on Friday and I was so excited to
get back out on track on Saturday for qualifying and the race.
The race was good but I lost
quite a few places when I had to avoid Ben Currie's crash. It was hard to get
back into the flow of things but I was happy to get another top ten placing and
was looking to improve in race two.
I had an issue in warm-up and we
changed as much as we could before the race but it didn't solve the problem as I
found out on the out lap. I knew I had to do the best I could but the bike was
struggling with lack of power and I had to settle for
12th.
