Top 10 and Superpole 2 for PJ Jacobsen at MotorLand Aragón

PJ Jacobsen and the Honda WorldSSP Team went straight into tomorrow’s third World Supersport Superpole 2 of the year, after finishing ninth in the combined times of today’s two free practice sessions at the MotorLand Aragón circuit in northern Spain.
With the start of the newly born FIM Europe Supersport Cup, which races together with World Supersport during the European rounds of the season, the already competitive field has seen an increase in the number of potential podium finishers. This translated in the top 12 riders from today’s two free practice sessions being covered by only seven tenths of a second.
Currently second in the Championship standings, Jacobsen worked with the team in order to find the best setup for his Honda CBR600RR, with a special focus on the rear-end of the bike. Despite being unable to improve his quickest lap-time and final position in the final minutes of free practice 2, the 22-year-old is nevertheless confident of his chances for a good qualifying tomorrow.

I’m happy that we were able to qualify for Superpole 2, it is really an important achievement ahead of tomorrow. You never know how things might end up if you have to make your way through the first session. Even in Thailand we were quite far from the top in terms of position, but then things changed a lot on Saturday. We’re all very close and it means that every little step forward can make a huge difference. We know we have to keep working on the set-up and we’re aware of what needs to be done. I am looking forward to tomorrow and hope to get a good qualifying position.

“We did well in the morning session and things looked quite good for the afternoon, but then we lost a little direction in terms of setup. Our biggest concern was to find more grip at the rear; what we tried didn’t work out so we had to go the opposite way. We went back to the morning settings but that proved not to be enough, so in the end we just didn’t have enough time to try anything else. Still, we’re in Superpole 2 and we know where to look, so definitely tomorrow will be different.”
