The
timing system was a bit upset in the third session for Moto3 on the first day of
the IRTA test in Jerez, but in the end it turned out Livio Loi had set his best
lap time of the day (1.47,867) in that final session. Not a bad result, RW
Racing GP team manager Jarno Janssen stated.
Livio
Loi made as many laps as possible on the opening day of the three day test in
Jerez. In a ‘normal’ weekend with free training, qualifying, warm-up and a race
riders make an average of almost 500 kms. In the three sessions today Loi made
some 300 kms on his Honda.
In
the combined results of the three sessions Loi was 14th fastest. “Getting the
feeling back, getting used to the pace and the bike again and trying some
different set-ups were the main goals for today,” Janssen explained. “It’s only
a test and only the first of three days, but we laid a strong foundation for the
start of the season.”
Loi
was satisfied as well. “The feeling is already much better than in Valencia a
few weeks ago. We didn’t ran just a lot of laps in quantity, but a lot of
qualitatively good laps too. In the second session I set a lap time of 1.47,898
on a new soft tyre. My lap times in the third session were only on used tyres,
so that’s something to be happy with. From here we have to work on the details
for further improvement.”
