Josh
Wainwright and the Lloyd & Jones PR Racing BMW had a challenging weekend at
round eight of the MCE British Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park this
weekend. In front of a huge crowd Josh secured a 25th and
22nd place in the two 18-lap races.
Despite
being one of Josh's favourite circuits, the team found it very tough to find a
set-up on the BMW that worked well around the 2.1-mile circuit. They worked hard
on Saturday and Sunday morning in the practice sessions and Josh was able to
take nearly two seconds off his initial practice time.
He
was able to go quicker again in qualifying and started race one from
26th place and he rode a hard race but despite his efforts could only
finish in 25th. For race two Josh started from 28th place
and was eager to push forward, he set some consistent lap times and still showed
determination to ensure that he finished the race. He worked hard and managed to
get up to 22nd place at the end of the 18-laps.
Josh
Wainwright - "It
was a really hard start to the weekend at such a complicated circuit. My
confidence was a bit low as I really wanted to have a good weekend at Cadwell as
it's one of my favourite tracks.
It
was always going to be a struggle as we had no set-up on the bike for Cadwell
and we knew it would be tough from the start.
The
team worked really hard all weekend to try and get the BMW right and find a
set-up we could run with.
I
had a huge crash at Brands Hatch which did a lot of damage and this was the
first time we got the try it out since the team re-built it. We did our best and
I'm glad we finished both races and improved our times each time.
I
am looking forward to Oulton Park and continuing to move forward."
