Josh Daley Racing Silverstone - Round 1

It was a great start to the season for Josh Daley at the opening round of the Dickies British Supersport Championship at Silverstone circuit this weekend. Josh was eager to get back to racing again this year but the weather conditions at Silverstone had other plans. The opening race was cancelled and the organisers are hoping to re-run it at a future round. In the second race Josh rode really well and scored a couple of magic Championship points to finish in 14^th position.

 

It was a tough weekend for all the riders with the April weather conditions, an oil spillage on Friday forced the Supersport riders to miss the first practice session. Sadly the great British weather played a part in the cancellation of the Sprint race on Saturday so it was all about the main race on Sunday.

 

Josh was promoted to eighth place on the grid for the 12 lap race. He got a strong start and was battling his way through the pack and fighting for a position. He crossed the line in 10^th place on lap two. A big moment on lap four saw him drop back to 17^th place and saw him with a lot of work to do to get back in the thick of it. Josh worked hard and was setting some good times to move back up through the field. He was soon back into the points in 15^th and moved to 14^th on lap nine. He was locked in a battle with Ryan Dixon for the remainder of the race and secured a solid 14^th place at the chequered flag.

 

Josh Daley - "It was damage limitation this weekend with the main aim being to keep the bike upright and for nothing silly to happen before I go to the TT in May for my first attempt on the Mountain Course.

 

However, I ended up qualifying the best I've ever qualified in Supersport and had a really good feature race with a strong result at the end in 14^th. I was really pleased with this after all the problems everyone had during the Sprint race on Saturday. I am really looking forward to Oulton and getting back out there fighting for more good results."
