It was a consistent weekend for
18-year-old Jake Dixon from Dover at round five of the Motorpoint British
Supersport Championship on the Appleyard Macadam Doodson Yamaha at Brands Hatch
GP this weekend. Jake secured his first ever qualifying pole position for the
opening sprint race and gained a fourth in that and fourth in main feature race
on Sunday.
Jake who was looking forward to
competing at his most local circuit of Brands this weekend and was eager for a
couple of strong results. He rode a fantastic qualifying session on Saturday
morning and in the drying conditions he secured a great pole position. Although
a little nervous Jake got his head down in the first race and despite a steady
start he pushed hard and once he settled down his lap times were some of the
best of the race, finishing in fourth at the chequered flag.
Starting in fourth for the main race
Jake got another good start and pushed hard during the race but just was not
able to keep with the leading trio and took another solid fourth.
Jake Dixon - "I'm really happy with how I have
ridden here at Brands all weekend we have made some huge improvements with the
Yamaha and I hope this form continues for the rest of the season. We are biting
at the podium now and just hope it won't be long before I can get up there. The
riders in front of me this weekend just seemed to have a little more power down
the long back straights, this might be a problem at Thruxton but I hope we can
overcome that. Thanks again to the team for all their hard work this weekend. I
have also managed to get a new sponsor with www.freestylextreme.com and look forward to building up a working
relationship with them."
