The third round of the 2019 MotoGP World Championship
takes the team and riders to the Circuit of the Americas this weekend, with
Lorenzo Baldassarri leading the way in the Moto2 class after back-to-back
victories in the opening two rounds. The Italian, winner of the opening two
races of the season, heads to Texas with a maximum 50 points under his belt but
with fellow 2019 podium finishers Remy Gardner, Marcel Schrotter, Álex Márquez
and Thomas Luthi all close behind and covered by just thirteen points as they
look to end Baldassarri’s winning run.
The Sama Qatar Ángel Nieto Team heads to the USA for the
third round of the 2019 Moto2 World Championship looking forward to maintaining
the upward curve since the opening round in Qatar. Both Jake Dixon and Xavi
Cardelús improved their results last time out in Argentina and they are aiming
to continue that trend this weekend. The British rider will continue to work on
improving the set-up of his KTM, as he targets the first points of his debut
season at Grand Prix level. Cardelús will be working more on his riding style in
Austin as he aims to break into the mid-pack, after finishing 25th in
Qatar and 21st in Argentina.
Jake Dixon: “Argentina was a difficult race for us but we took a
step forward. I have spent some time at home since then, training hard and
looking forward to the next race in Austin. It is a long circuit and it will be
another tough weekend but I am excited to see what COTA is all about and seeing
how we get on there. We need to keep improving the bike before we can make more
steps in other areas such as my riding. Right now, the objective is to continue
in the position we are in but I want more.”
Xavi Cardelús: “We go to another new circuit so we start from scratch
but the objective is to keep learning. We still have a lot to improve on,
especially with my riding style. That will be the focus this weekend in Austin
and I will give my best from the start to try and do the best job possible.”
