On the first day of practice for the Grand Prix of Argentina in Termas de Rio
Hondo, the MotoGP field were greeted with a dusty surface and track temperatures
in the region of 60°C, making going tough across the opening two sessions.Cal Crutchlow and his LCR Honda Team decided to take few risks in the morning session, lapping cautiously with conditions extremely slippery and several other riders going to ground. However, in the afternoon free practice the British rider pushed on to finish the day in an impressive fifth overall, having improved his lap times by over two and a half seconds.
#35 Cal Crutchlow – 5th (1’42.451)
“Today was a strange day with the track surface being so slippery here. It was really difficult to understand the feeling from the bike, but overall in the end we aren’t in a bad situation. All the Hondas seem to be doing very well at this venue and this is pleasing for us and the manufacturer.”
“The team worked really well, but we still need to evaluate a few things overnight and discuss the best option as regards tyres with Michelin, because I think everyone is struggling a little with the front. We will look to them for some improvements too and hopefully we can then have another good day tomorrow.”
