Joe Collier had a solid end to
the 2016 Dickies British Supersport season at Brands Hatch with the One Cal JJR
Triumph team. Joe finished the season with an 11th and 8th
place respectively despite varied weather conditions over the
weekend.
The practice sessions were going
well and Joe was eager to get a good starting position during the qualifying
session. With a patchy track during qualifying he was only able to secure
15th place on the grid for the opening race on Saturday
afternoon.
Joe got a strong start and was
able to make up a few positions on the opening lap and he continued to make
progress through the pack to finish in 11th position. He was placed
in 11th place on the grid for race two on Sunday. He got boxed in off
the start and was 12th after lap one, the race was soon red-flagged
and re-started over nine laps.
Joe got a good start and was
working his way through the pack and into a top ten position. He pushed hard and
managed to get up to eighth place after a battle with Matt Truelove.
Joe Collier - "What a year! At the start of
the year we had to set up a new team and if it wasn't for everyone at One Call
Insurance that wouldn't have been possible.
I am disappointed we couldn't get
up to speed with the bike and the results as I really wanted to repay everyone
who has invested in me this season, I really couldn't have done it without all
my personal sponsors.
It was a big job to set up a new
team and run in a very competitive Championship. We knew it would be hard and my
team have worked really hard all year to try and ensure I could get the best
results possible. We have learnt a lot and hope to take this into next year if
we get the support again.
Brands was tough and I was hoping
to end the season with a top five finish, but once again we had a few small
problems that had a knock on effect. I pushed as hard as I could in both races
and was pleased to get a top ten result in the second race.
Once again I can't thank my
sponsors enough for everything that they did for me. A huge thank you also to
Mum, Dad, Mollie, Tony, James, Arron and Scotty for all their help, support and
hard work this season."
