Joe Collier made some huge
progress this weekend on the One Call JJR Triumph at round nine of the Dickies
British Supersport Championship at Oulton Park. Joe was able to secure two
eighth places at the tricky 2.9-mile circuit.
Joe came to Oulton feeling
confident and the team have managed to make some good changes to the bike and
from the first practice session Joe was already making progress from the
previous rounds. It has been a long time coming but the team managed to find a
good set-up on the One Call Triumph and Joe was producing some consistent lap
times.
Joe managed to qualify in
13th place for the opening Sprint race on Saturday. Joe got a good
start and made up a position after lap one but ran wide and slipped back to
14th place. Once he got his head down Joe chipped away with some
strong lap times and made some good passes to work his way into a top ten
position. At the end of the 12-lap race he was able to finish in a good eighth
place.
For race two he started from
13th place again, he got a great start and was 10th at the
end of the first lap. He made a move on Jamie Perrin for ninth and then got past
Luke Hedger to secure another strong eighth place.
Joe Collier - "Things were certainly much
better this weekend at Oulton Park and we have made some really big improvements
on the bike and I've finally found a good set-up to work with.
I made a few mistakes on the
opening lap in race one; I was on the grass, running wide and just didn't settle
into a rhythm. I got my head down and started to make some progress through the
field. I felt like I was capable of running near the front this weekend and we
just have to piece a few more things together.
I'm pleased with the progress
that we made and to come away with two eighth places just shows that we have
certainly made some improvements.
Donington is my local circuit, so
I will be looking to continue improving there."
