Penz13.com BMW Motorrad Team celebrates first EWC podium at Oschersleben

Oschersleben, Germany. The Penz13.com BMW Motorrad Team celebrates it’s first EWC podium in just the second year competing in the top class of the FIM Endurance World Championship at their home round at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben today. Kenny Foray and Lukas Pesek fought to a well-deserved third place in the 8 hours of Germany.
The team decided to lend Matthieu Lussiana to the BMW sister team of Völpker NRT48 by Schubert-Motors to help them in their final title assault for the FIM Endurance Superstock World Cup, meaning Pesek and Foray had to race on two only for the 8 hours distance. Unfortunately the title was not to be as the #48 bike crashed on a oil spill of a competitor bike, leaving them with a broken frame and having to give up.
Pesek and Foray however did a great job on two only and did constant lap times during the 8 hours distance.
In the end Pesek and Foray brought home the third spot on the podium, earning Team Penz13.com BMW Motorrad's first EWC podium in just the second year in the top class of Endurance racing.

Kenny Foray

Rider

"I am super-happy with today’s result, that was the maximum we could do. If you are riding on two riders only, you have to have some reserves and can’t go on the maximum all the time, but we still were close. The team did an faultless brilliant job in the pits today and in the end I am happy to give them their first podium in the EWC. We will come back even stronger for the Bol, as we learned a lot of things today.”

Lukas Pesek

Rider

"Yes! We did it! It was an quite intense race as it was just we two doing it, but I am more than happy that we made it to the podium. It is well deserved for the whole team who worked brilliantly in the pits and beyond today. Luck also was on our side and it feels great to step on the podium once more. I am a bit tired now, but already looking forward to the Bol d’Or in three weeks time "

Rico Penzkofer

Team Principal

"I am over the moon. It’s just a bit over a year now that we entered the EWC category – but always with the aim to succeed. We had quite a lot of learnings to do in those first races but today we proved that we not only learned from our mistakes, but also the luck was on our side. This race for us was meant to be a test for the upcoming Bol d’Or, but to stand on the podium here at our home round at Oschersleben, makes it a sweet weekend.
