Josh
Wainwright and the Lloyd & Jones PR Racing BMW continued to make
improvements at round seven of the MCE British Superbike Championship at Brands
Hatch this weekend. Josh was 22nd in race one and unfortunately
crashed out of race two.
Josh
was once again faced with a bit of an uphill struggled but still was able to
take off around a second from his time from free practice one to two. Then
another half a second in the third practice session on Saturday before
qualifying, another 0.1 in qualifying saw him start race one from
25th place.
He
struggled off the start and dropped back some places he did start to get into a
rhythm and was able to make a pass on multi British Champion Ryuichi Kiyonari.
He worked hard and was able to set some consistent lap times and brought the BMW
home in 22nd place at the end of the 20-lap race.
Josh
was placed on the back of the grid for race two which left him with a lot of
work to do. He was working hard and made some positions but sadly had a big
crash into the very fast Westfield corner. He walked away with no injuries but
the BMW certainly took a beating.
Josh
Wainwright - "It
was a difficult weekend and I feel like we are always on the back foot as we
have no data. Every session we are trying to learn everything quickly, I am
having to adapt my riding style to ride the Superbike as it has so much power we
almost need to tame it down.
The
team worked hard again and maybe we made too many changes, we made some good
progress in practice in qualifying but it never really turned into a result in
the race. I was pushing hard in the second race and I really wanted to get in a
battle with a few people but I just tucked the front and crash out quite
heavily.
I'm
sorry to have let the team down with the crash, it's not something I do very
often but I know they have a lot of work to do before Cadwell and I think it's a
good job we have a few weeks off.
