The young riders Alessandro Zaccone
and Axel Bassani (both born in '99) monopolise the scene of the FIM Europe
Supersport Cup at the MotorLand Aragón and finish respectively 5th and 6th
overall in World Championship.
The new challenge of San Carlo Team Italia
in FIM Europe Supersport Cup (the new European Cup included in World
Championship) couldn't start better than this. At the MotorLand Aragón of
Alcañiz, the young Alessandro Zaccone and Axel Bassani, both born in '99, were
author of a double in their category and got a great result also in World
Supersport, respectively 5th and 6th overall and close to the podium.
Protagonists from the first free practice, the two riders of San Carlo Team
Italia did a great performance that underlined their talent and the technical
potential of the team.
Started from the fourth row, Zaccone and Bassani immediately found themselves in the battle for the third place of the podium of the World Championship, with a big gap from their rivals in the European standings. Zaccone and Bassani didn't spare any effort and battled in a correct duel based on loyalty and respect, essential values of the Team Italia project in the "production-based racing motorcycles". Making no mistakes, Alessandro Zaccone finished the race in 5th position overall, at just 4" from the winner and World champion Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) getting the first historical victory of the FIM Europe Supersport Cup, at just 71 thousandths from his teammate Axel Bassani, 2nd in the European and 6th in the World standings.
After having concretised a sensational double, San Carlo Team Italia will be back on track from 15th to 17th April at the TT Circuit Assen for the second seasonal round of the 2016 FIM Europe Supersport Cup.

"I have tried to get the victory of the European Championship until the end: I was very close to succeed! But I still have the satisfaction for a great weekend and having battled with the protagonists of World Championship makes me proud. It took a bit at the start to recover positions, and once I was third, I was fine on the bike. At some point, in the duel with Cluzel, I risked to touch him and in order to avoid it, I lost 6 tenth that, in this category, are a lot. Then I gave my best to recover some ground but at half of the race, the back tyre slided and I wasn't able to get that position back. Anyway I enjoyed a lot, racing and seeing a champion such as Sofuoglu really close to me it's a great satisfaction, but I am already thinking of Assen where we will try to reach the victory of the European championship."
