CRUTCHLOW UPS THE PACE IN FIRST MOTOGP TEST

LCR Honda’s British rider, Cal Crutchlow, continued to increase his pace ahead of the 2016 MotoGP World Championship as he and the team took part in the second of three days testing at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia.
With the withdrawal of the soft rear tyre due to safety concerns, Crutchlow worked tirelessly with the harder option in the draining heat and humidity, eventually picking up his pace to improve on his Monday benchmark by well over a second and a half. He clocked a blistering 2’00.899 in the final moments of the day to place him fifth overall on the timesheets.
The test in Malaysia comes to a close on Wednesday, with more vital data still to be gathered before the teams pack up and head to Australia for the second of their three pre-season outings.
The MotoGP World Championship proper begins under floodlights in Qatar on March 20th.

“Today was a very demanding day, we had a situation that was out of our control, and out of all the riders’ control, so we made the best of it by working with the hard tyre. We only used that harder tyre all day anyway and hadn’t even tried the soft.”
“We worked through the things we needed to work on with the electronics, as well as some small settings on the bike, then when we needed to push a little we were able to push. So overall we are a little happier than yesterday, and tonight we will be working really hard again, because the information we have gathered is important for the LCR Team and for Honda to give us a direction for the coming season.”
