18-year-old Josh Daley had a positive
weekend at the opening round of the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship
at Donington Park. The youngster is one again riding in the Supersport Evo class
on a Kawasaki. He was hindered all weekend with an old leg injury he sustained
at the end of last year in which he damaged the ligaments in his ankle. He
secured two 13th Evo places in the two races.
Each session showed improvement but
he was struggling with time on the bike due to the injury. He ended up
qualifying in 27th place for race one and he battled hard throughout
the short race to move forwards to 22nd and 13th Evo bike.
He started from 29th on
the grid for the main feature race on Easter Monday and once again he battled
hard to bring the bike home in 23rd place in the main class and
13th Evo bike.
Josh Daley - "I am really pleased to have left
Donington and the first round with two solid results. The weekend was troubled
by the torn ligaments in my leg and ankle, I thought I was ok as the crash was
months ago but it reared its nasty head this weekend and caused me trouble in
each session. I hope to get some physio and sports massage before the second
race in a few weeks time.
I felt good on the bike and once
again each time I went out on track I managed to improve my times so I hope to
keep pushing forward throughout the season. Thanks again to my Dad for all his
help this weekend and also all the sponsors that have continued to help me for
this year."
