07.04.2019 – At the home circuit of their lone
WorldSBK rider Jordi Torres the Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service
Solutions squad earned their best results of the season so far. In the opening
Sunday ten-lap Superpole Race Jordi was eighth and he followed that up with a
seventh in the full 18-lap final race of the weekend.
Although finding some issues in the early
periods of the Motorland Aragon race weekend, the first in Europe after the
opening two flyaway rounds in Australia and Thailand, the Team Pedercini Racing
by Global Service Solutions squad worked closely with their rider to find an
improved machine set-up.
The result of their strong teamwork and the
efforts of Torres on track resulted in challenging one of the factory Kawasaki
machines all the way to the flag in the ‘sprint race’, and then beating several
other factory machines in the afternoon’s race.
Riding at home may have given Torres even more
motivation and impetus than normal but nothing could disguise the fact that this
was another significant step forward for the entire effort in the highest form
of production-derived racing there is.
Jordi was only 0.168 seconds behind reigning
BSB Champion and official KRT rider Leon Haslam in the sprint. He followed that
up by winning a tough contest against official Yamaha rider Michael van der Mark
in the final race, which moved Jordi up to tenth in the overall championship
rankings.
After three strong scores in the Motorland
races, which included a top ten for Jordi on the opening day, the Team Pedercini
Racing by Global Service Solutions operation now relocates swiftly to Assen in
the Netherlands for round four, which will be held between the 12th and the 14th
of April.
Jordi Torres #81 – Rider:
“In the afternoon we used the soft rear tyre and maybe the bike worked even better than on day one. But I think the secret is that we worked very well. We continued to make everyone understand that we are competitive and professional to be able to take the finishing positions we did. This is also a home race for me, although I always give 100%. We started very well today and maybe the first short race gave some advantage for the main race too. So we are happy.”

Lucio Pedercini – Team Owner:
“I am very happy because what I said in the past is that for sure Jordi needs more kilometres on the bike to get more feeling. The results are coming every session, every race every, day we improve. I am happy for that and confident for the future. He fought with official riders today and in the sprint race this morning with the factory KRT bike.”

WORLDSSP
Smith Soars As Badovini Finds
Bad Luck
The newly expanded Team Pedercini Racing by
Global Service Solutions team featured not only the proven talents of Ayrton
Badovini at Motorland Aragon this weekend but also another top WorldSSP rider,
Spanish-based Englishman Kyle Smith.
Raceday was to be a highly positive experience
for Smith, who finished his first WorldSSP race of 2019 in a fighting ninth
place, having been as high up the order as sixth before his tyres lost too much
grip. Until that point he had led a group of riders that included both official
Kawasaki competitors.
His ninth place finish was still a more than
positive race result for a rider who lost some of the opening day to rain and
qualified a fighting 13th for the 16-lap race. Kyle is already 14th in the
championship standings, with seven points.
Regular team rider Badovini had a largely
positive weekend to start with, qualifying 11th, until two problems arrived on
raceday – one in morning warm-up and then again with a spare engine fitted in
the race itself.
A technical issue eventually forced Ayrton out
and he could not add to the championship point he scored in the first race in
Australia.
A quick relocation to Assen in the Netherlands
is next up for the team, with the fourth round of the championship to be held
between the 12th and the 14th of April.
Ayrton Badovini #86 – Rider:
“Before today we could have been so fast and I think we could fight for the sixth, seventh, or eighth positions. I was sure about this but today everything changed. We had a technical problem and I had to stop in the race. The bike was not as fast as we expected and I do not know why because we changed the engine from this morning. In the afternoon it was not pushing like it was in the morning. I am happy that next week we are in Assen because I feel well on the bike and the only problems came to us today.”

Kyle Smith #11 –
Rider:
“I was really disappointed that I could not finish in front of that group I was in because we were battling with Mahias, Okubo and Perolari. I felt like I had the pace but on the last couple of laps the tyre just fell off the top of a cliff. I knew the tyres might be difficult to last and mid-race the grip dropped a bit, but it stayed stable. In the last couple of laps it became too much of a risk. We still need to work on the bike setup because this is our first race, and if we can get the bike’s setup to let the tyres work better we can be up there battling.”

Lucio Pedercini – Team Owner:
“Ayrton was unlucky twice today but for Kyle in his first race with us, he was very strong and very good. In the beginning he was running well but at the end he had a big drop from both tyres and in the last two laps he lost a lot. In a first race for him in our team he was able to fight with other Kawasakis. With Kyle and Ayrton in Assen I think we can do a good job.”
