05.04.2019 – Team Pedercini Racing by Global
Service Solutions and the exciting talent of Jordi Torres began their combined
push for the best possible race results at Motorland Aragon with two free
practice sessions today.
After the first two Spanish track outings for
the refreshed and motivated Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions
squad, Jordi Torres was 15th on Friday, having experienced some small issues in
the morning that cost him some track time. In the afternoon session, which
remained dry until near the end, his bike proved more difficult to turn than he
expected.
With all the data they have collected from
today the team will now work to improve the machine’s set-up overnight, to allow
Jordi to demonstrate his attacking riding style to the maximum in first
Superpole and then Race One on Saturday 6th of April. The race is scheduled for
a 2pm start-time on Saturday, and will run for 18 laps.
In the first free practice session of the
weekend Jordi was 10th overall, but could not make great strides in improving
his lap time at the 5.077km long circuit in FP2. The more he pushed the more
difficult his bike became when trying to flick into each corner quickly. Now the
team are analysing their data to ensure that the pace can improve in the final
FP3 session early on Saturday morning.
The team’s regular WorldSSP rider Ayrton Badovini was
joined in Motorland Aragon by new signing Kyle Smith, giving the
Supersport team a second proven race winner in its ranks. At the end of day one
Ayrton was 11th and Kyle 22nd, after losing the afternoon session to a sudden
and heavy fall of rain as they looked for further set-up improvements.
Jordi Torres #81 – Rider:
“I think the biggest thing now is to get it turn better. Sometimes when we try to enter the corners fast I feel that there is some strange weight change, or it is not too well balanced at this point. The bike always wants to go straight and does not help me too much to turn. It is a question of time to understand what has happened, so that we can solve this little problem. Here, of course, there are a lot of corners, and the track is very long, so if you have lost a little in one entry you lose it in many corners. It costs too much in the final lap time. This morning, without pushing too much, we did a great lap time, even though I only got to do five timed laps, and we set a good time, inside the top ten. This afternoon we tried to push more and it was worse. Maybe when you try to push more, you transfer more weight on the front.”

Lucio Pedercini – Team
Owner:
“After the first two track sessions we are still looking for the best settings. Jordi has some problems to enter the corner so we are trying to understand where the problem is and try to fix something for tomorrow. When Jordi wants to go into the corner it tries to push wide. It is Friday, the first day, and we are working on it now.”
