Torres fights for every point in Thailand, Badovini taken out in first corner WorldSSP incident

17.03.2019 – Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions rider Jordi Torres put in not one but two strong rides during the final day of Superbike World Championship action at the Chang International Circuit today.
After finishing 11th in race one on Saturday Jordi placed 13th in a red-flagged Tissot Superpole race, held early on Sunday afternoon. The scheduled 10-lap race was reduced to only six after an accident involving two other riders. Only the top nine riders will score points in the ‘sprint’ race this season, meaning Jordi missed out this time.
Torres increased his overall points total in the final race of the weekend, a 20-lap event held in the heat of mid-afternoon. Track temperatures rose to over 50°c at that time, making it hot work for the riders. Jordi battled strongly with Toprak Razgatlioglu for the second day in succession, just finishing behind him in tenth place today.
Tenth was Jordi and his Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions squad’s best performance in a race so far. He is now 12th overall and fifth in the Independent Riders’ ranking. Torres is tied on 18 points with factory Ducati rider Chaz Davies, with the British rider ranked one place higher by having a better individual finish in a race so far.
The Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions staff now fly back home after two long-haul rounds, which will be followed by a run of six races in Europe. This string of events begins with Torres’ home round at Motorland Aragon, to be held between 5th and 7th April.
Jordi Torres #81 – Rider:
“Another fight with Toprak, so not a bad result. I think that at the end I had less tyre in the longer race and we need to understand more about the bike. We also did not try to do any long runs over the weekend, but anyway we are happy because we worked a lot. We also learned a lot about this bike. We did not have too much power this weekend and we needed to concentrate 100% on the other areas of the set-up. This weekend has been good for understanding how to improve the bike. Also for my riding style, as I need to learn a lot with this bike. I was happy to battle with Toprak because I think he is a fast rider and he knows the Kawasaki very well. We are more or less at his performance so we have to be happy. We arrived there, so not bad.”
Lucio Pedercini – Team Owner:
“In Superbike I am happy because we were a little bit in trouble at the beginning of the weekend. At the end it was good for us because last year we were so far from Toprak Razgatlioglu but now we were there with him. We are pleased and we know we can improve, so for the Superbike side we are really happy.”

Badovini Taken Out In First Corner Incident
Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions WorldSSP rider Ayrton Badovini was unable to show his performance during the 17-lap race at the at the Chang International Circuit today, after he was taken out on the very first corner.
Having qualified inside the top ten during Saturday Superpole, Badovini had realistic ambitions of finishing even closer to the front in the race itself today.
Before he could even reach the start/finish line on the opening lap he was taken out after two other riders made contact and then one of them collided with Ayrton.
Badovini now looks to the next round to show his and Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions’ joint capabilities in the hotly contested middleweight class.
Ayrton, a proven race winner in this class as recently as 2016, has a single point from the opening race in Australia, which puts him 20th overall at present.
The next round of the championship will take place, alongside the Superbike machines, at Motorland Aragon in Spain, between 5th and 7th April.
Ayrton Badovini #86 – Rider:
“We are growing up together in this class and in practice and I though we were not slow on used tyres. I was sure we could fight for the first ten positions. I don’t know what happened in the race but for sure it was not my fault that I crashed. The first corner can always be risky and I was not too close to anybody because I know somebody can push and take a risk. I do not know where people want to go in the first corner because it is a long race.”
Lucio Pedercini – Team Owner:
“In Supersport we were unlucky this weekend. I believe Ayrton could have been fifth to tenth, for sure, because his lap times were good. We also know he is stronger in the races than in practice. So, he was unlucky in the first corner but this is racing sometimes.”
