The Moto3 riders
were back on track today for the second of three days of testing at Jerez, where
Nicolo Bulega set the fastest lap with a time of 1’46.232 during the first of
three sessions, when the track was in the best condition. The top ten fastest
riders all set their best times in the opening session, with Aron Canet and
Jorge Martín again also on the pace, followed by Romano Fenati and Gabriel
Rodrigo, who completed the top five. The test concludes tomorrow with three
final sessions before the crates are packed for the final test of the Moto3
preseason in Qatar next week.
Mahindra
Pull&Bear Aspar riders Lorenzo dalla Porta and Albert Arenas continued their
programme at Jerez with the Italian breaking through the 1’47 barrier to stop
the clock at 1’46.990. Dalla Porta and his crew went back to the set-up that
they ended last week’s test with at Jerez and worked in a different direction,
which brought more positive results. Arenas lost part of the second session due
to an issue with his fuel tank but he made up for lost time and was one of only
five riders to improve their best laps in the final session, stopping the clock
at 1’47.650.
11th Lorenzo Dalla Porta 1:46.990
(55 laps): “It has been a very interesting second day and now we
are setting some very good lap times. In general it has been an important day
because we have managed to find the right way. We want to continue like this and
take another step forward tomorrow because we are seeing some really positive
results. I feel more happy than yesterday because we started the day with the
set-up from the last test, which I liked a lot, and worked from there,
especially with the chassis, to improve my feeling.”
19th Albert Arenas 1:47.650 (44
laps):“We started the day full of energy, setting a strong pace
from the start, but in the second session we encountered a problem with the fuel
tank just when the track conditions were ideal for making improvements. In the
third session the conditions were difficult but everybody worked hard to help me
improve. I am happy but tomorrow we need to keep pushing.”
