Baldassarri forced to miss opening stages of IRTA test in Jerez

Following three promising private outings in Valencia and Jerez de la Frontera, Lorenzo Baldassarri and Luca Marini are back at the Spanish track this week for the first official Moto2 test in 2017. However, the Forward Racing Team regrets to announce that Baldassarri will not be able to take part in today’s track action due to an inflammation of a tendon in his left arm.

Therefore, the rider, together with his VR46 management and the team, opted to sit out the first days of the official test in Jerez in order to get back to full fitness for the most important first round of the Moto2 World Championship, which will take place in a fortnight in Doha, Qatar. Nevertheless, the 20-year old is working on a speedy recovery together with the staff of the Clinica Mobile in Jerez, where he receives excellent support, for which the Forward Racing Team wants to express its appreciation.

The Italian, who is confident to be capable to ride again at his 100% soon, confirms that the lack of track time at the Jerez Circuit, will not be obstructing his pre-season preparation as the team already collected precious information during the previous three days of testing at the 4.428 km track.
Lorenzo Baldassarri
“It goes without saying that I’m a bit disappointed as I won’t be able to hit the track today, but I prefer to play it safe here in Jerez, where we were already able to gain valuable data during the previous weeks. After our last outing on Wednesday, I started to feel some pain in my left arm and decided to undergo a MRI at home, as a result my doctor confirmed an inflammation of my tendon. Fortunately, there is no damage, but I need to rest as much as possible and give my body the time to heal completely in order to be in perfect shape for the opening round in Qatar in only two weeks’ time. Therefore, we decided together with the team to sit out at least the first days here in Jerez.”
