Alessandro Zaccone and Axel Bassani
got the double for San Carlo Team Italia in the FIM Europe Supersport Cup
Superpole in Alcañiz, respectively 10th and 12th overall in World Championship

The debut of FIM Europe Supersport Cup was
in the name of San Carlo Team Italia, the only one team of the class with both
its riders in the Superpole-2 of Supersport World Championship at the MotorLand
Aragón of Alcañiz. With a time in 1'55"743 Alessandro Zaccone is the first pole
man ever in the European championship and 10th overall in World Championship,
preceding Axel Bassani, who crashed during the first time attack and finished
12th in WSS and 2nd in FIM Europe Supersport Cup, completing the 1-2 of San
Carlo Team Italia.Author of a brilliant fifth time yesterday in the
combined standings of the first two sessions of free practice, who gave him the
direct access to Superpole-2, Alessandro Zaccone has confirmed his speed
potential, getting the first historical pole of the Europe Supersport Cup by
FIM, milestone of his young career that earned him the tenth place of the grid
of Supersport World Championship.Unlucky Superpole for Axel Bassani.
Author yesterday of the second time overall, again in the same position this
morning in the 15 minutes of FP3, the rider from Feltre crashed without
consequence in the slope at Turn 9 in the first time attack of Superpole-2. He
wasn't able to get back in his Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R #47, that stopped in the
runway edge, the sixteen-year-old Italian rider will start anyway from twelfth
place (4th row) as he classified 2nd of the FIM Europe Supersport Cup.
Alessandro Zaccone (San
Carlo Team Italia - Kawasaki ZX-6R #61) 1st ESS & 10th WSS
"I am happy for this pole
position in the European championship, but we still miss something for the race.
Today in the Superpole, despite a convincing time, we've had with more
difficulties than expected. With the team we tested different solutions of
set-up that didn't convince us completely, so in the Warm Up we will take the
stock of the situation to be ready for the race. Getting the inaugural pole
position of this new category makes me proud, now we are ready to do our best
again in race."
Axel Bassani (San Carlo Team Italia - Kawasaki ZX-6R #47) 2nd ESS & 12th WSS
"It's a pity that I have fallen. I had a good feeling on the bike and in that moment I was following Krummenacher: I was everytime closer to him and then, unfortunately, at Turn 9, downhill to the right, I lost the front and I crashed. It could have been a great opportunity, but nothing is lost: thinking about the race, we are fine and we still focus on our main goal. I have a great feeling with the bike and I can't wait to race!"
Cristiano Migliorati (San Carlo Team Italia - Team Manager)
"The team is obviously satisfied with the pole position, I want to underline that we race in the European championship and this represents our main goal. However, thinking about the race, we are not completely fine in terms of set-up. We have a great "package", the bike is the current World Champion, we try to adapt it to the characteristics of the riders. Even though we are not at our 100% yet, we got the pole, sign that the potential is out of question and we can do well tomorrow in race."
Stefano Cruciani (San Carlo Team Italia - Sport Manager)
"We have been the only one team that took part in the Superpole-2 and this makes us proud, also because we have a great advantage from our direct rivals. We start from the pole position with Zaccone, who confirmed the potential of the free practice, but it's a pity that Bassani wasn't able to do it too. He made a mistake, due to the adrenaline and inexperience, exaggerating a little at turn 9, after he got a great T1 of three tenth faster than Krummenacher. I am convinced that he could have battled for the front row of World Championship. Anyway we have a great race pace, we will try do improve after this little setback."
