After
the great performance in Qatar Livio Loi felt like he had to prove this wasn’t
just a fluke. On the first day of the GP of Argentina RW Racing GP’s young
Belgian showed he also has the pace on the Autodromo Termas de Rio Hondo, with
second in FP1 and sixth in FP2.
Loi
completed the first day in Argentina in sixth overall, with his 1.51,468 just
0,331 from the provisional pole position. Like in Qatar two weeks ago the
differences in Moto3 are small, with the first fifteen riders within a
second.
The
first practice was difficult as the track was quite dirty. In the second session
it was better and the lap times dropped dramatically. Loi was one and a half
second faster.
The
goal for the 18 year old Belgian was to concentrate a bit more on slipstreams
then to riding his times on his own. “We don’t want to be surprised again like
in Qatar, when pole position was snatched out of our hands,” RW Racing GP team
manager Jarno Janssen explained.
Livio Loi - 6 (1.51,468)
“The
Termas de Rio Hondo circuit is one of my favourites and I had some good results
(4th and 12th) here before, so I was looking forward to this GP, especially
after the great results in Qatar. The race could have been better and that’s why
I started working a bit more on overtaking points, riding in a group and using
slipstreams. I think we did quite a good job today. I know I have the pace to be
fast on my own, but I can be even faster when I get myself in a good position
for a slipstream as well. We are on schedule for hopefully another good
result.”
